SAN FRANCISCO -- Bring on the lightweights. That is the new battle cry of the staggering San Francisco Giants, who completed the heavyweight division of their schedule with a one mighty punch Thursday night, salvaging one of three from the Los Angeles Dodgers on newcomer Matt Moores one-hitter.The Giants (69-58) flew out of Los Angeles early Friday morning trailing the Dodgers (71-56) by two games in the National League West. The good news is, despite having gone a major-league-worst 12-25 since the All-Star break, they still have a three-game cushion over the Miami Marlins (66-61) in the race to earn one of two NL wild cards. And the best news of all is: Twenty-one of their last 35 games are against the Atlanta Braves, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres and Colorado Rockies. The stretch breeze begins with a five-game homestand against the Braves (three games) and Diamondbacks (two).Moore will pitch the fifth of the five games next Wednesday, and he hopes his effort in Los Angeles can trigger a turnaround that has him trying to extend a winning streak by then.Today was fun, he said after his masterpiece Thursday. Hopefully, moving forward, we can build off this. The Thursday victory ended a brutal stretch in which the Giants played 19 consecutive games against playoff contenders -- four against the New York Mets, and three against the Dodgers, Pittsburgh Pirates, Baltimore Orioles, Marlins and Washington Nationals. The Giants went 7-12 in those games, taking them from a two-game lead in the West to their current two-game deficit. So, bring on the Braves, who have the third-worst record in the NL (16-23) since the All-Star break, and then the Diamondbacks (15-23), who have the second-worst mark in that span. The Giants will open the Atlanta series with right-hander Jeff Samardzija (10-9, 4.17 ERA) on the mound. He is coming off one of his best games of the season, a 2-0 loss to the New York Mets on Sunday in which he took a no-hitter into the seventh inning for the first time in his career. That night, he was up against Mets ace Noah Syndergaard. On Friday, he will see Braves rookie right-hander Joel De La Cruz, who is still looking for his first major league win. De La Cruz is 0-6 with a 4.47 ERA in 14 games (seven starts).De La Cruzs last effort was his worst, as he was roughed up for seven hits and six runs in 5 2/3 innings during a no-decision against the Nationals.Samardzija is 2-2 with a 3.41 ERA in 11 career appearances (five starts) against the Braves. He took the loss in a 5-3 defeat in Atlanta on May 30, allowing four earned runs in five innings.De La Cruz, who made his debut for the Braves on June 29, has never faced the Giants. The Braves are coming off a 2-2 split in their four-game series at Arizona. That constitutes a hot streak for a club that had lost seven of its previous eight. However, Atlanta might have to open the San Francisco series without its best hitter, as first baseman Freddie Freeman took a hard fall chasing a foul pop up in the Thursday win.Im just glad I didnt hit my head, Freeman said. Im going to be pretty sore (Friday).Air Max 90 Soldes . "We talked about wanting to be disciplined and stick with our game plan and good things will come," Draisaitl said, who had two goals for the victors. Air Max 90 Pas Cher Chine . Andreas Johnson had a goal and two assists while Jacob de la Rose also scored for Sweden (2-0-0). Vente Air Max 90 . -- In a span of seven Washington Redskins offensive plays, Justin Tuck sacked Robert Griffin III four times.EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Adrian Peterson will have surgery on his right knee to repair a torn meniscus, putting his season and perhaps his 10-year run with Minnesota in question. The Vikings have held off for now on placing the franchises all-time leading rusher on injured reserve, though, waiting for the medical report that will influence that decision. Peterson was hurt on Sunday night during the victory over Green Bay, needing assistance off the field after his knee was slightly twisted while being tackled at the end of a 5-yard run.Peterson, 16th on the NFLs all-time rushing list, has only 50 yards on 31 attempts this season. He told ESPN on Wednesday morning that the type of tear he was diagnosed with typically requires a minimum recovery time of three to four months. But Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said the timetable for Petersons return wont be clear until after the procedure.Everything is possible, Zimmer said. It could be season ending. It could be three weeks, four weeks. I dont know.Peterson made a swift recovery from a torn ACL in his left knee suffered in the second-to-last game of the 2011 season. He came back with a flourish, in time for the 2012 opener, and won the league MVP award with 2,097 yards rushing while leading the Vikings to the playoffs.Peterson won another NFL rushing title last year, but hes 31 now with a contract that might not make financial sense in its current state for the Vikings to carry next year. The scheduled salary cap hit for 2017 is $18 million, so even if he were fully healthy this season his status was bound to reach a crossroad. The Vikings could try to bring him back at a reduced rate with a restructuring, but he might prefer to be released and test the market for the first time in his career.Thats a matter for another day, though. The Vikings (2-0) have a visit to defending NFC champion Carolina on Sunday, with Jerick McKinnon set to take Petersons place as the featured running back. Matt Asiata has proven to be a capable backup,I have a lot of confidence in those two guys. I think theyre both different types of runners, but I think the combination of the two can help us, Zimmer said. The Vikings also signed Ronnie Hillman, who had a career-high 863 yards and seven touchdowns rushing last season for Denvers Super Bowl-winning team.ddddddddddddI havent been here long, but I think weve got a great group of running backs, quarterback Sam Bradford said. I think the guys behind him are eager for the opportunity.Already without quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who went down with a massive knee injury on Aug. 30 during a routine practice drill, the Vikings must also move on without their starting left tackle Matt Kalil.Kalil was placed on injured reserve Wednesday with a lingering hip problem that he played through in the first two games. He will require surgery that Zimmer said the team believes will be season ending. T.J. Clemmings, the starter at right tackle last year, will take over for Kalil. At this point and time I think its hard to find left tackles that are on the street, Zimmer said. Were planning on going with what weve got.The Vikings havent given up on their chase for a championship, though. Bradford had a brilliant debut against the Packers in Bridgewaters place, and McKinnon and Asiata were a relatively productive tandem in 2014 when Peterson was sidelined during the fallout from a child abuse case.Theyre resilient. Theyre tough. Theyre competitive, Zimmer said. Obviously weve had a few setbacks, but I think we can go back to last year and think about some of the things that happened. Were not the type of team thats going to sit back and cry about whats happened. Were going to go forward. Try, like Ive said before, to find a way.The Vikings are 10-14 without Peterson, over the 24 games hes missed over the past nine seasons.Thats our identity and thats how were built. Were going to continue to stay that way, Zimmer said. Hopefully we can play good defense and hopefully we can run the ball. Take our shots when we get a chance. Were not going to change and go to like five wides every play.---Online:AP NFL website: http://www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL coverage on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFL---Follow Dave Campbell on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/DaveCampbellAP ' ' '
